Loy Koch

Loy Koch is a Montana native and, for the most part, a locally grown musician. She started playing the violin in her school’s orchestra at age ten and joined the Billings Symphony five years later. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Montana State University and a Master of Music in Violin Performance degree from Temple University. Her musical studies also led to a summer at the Aspen Music Festival and a year at Indiana University. In addition to performing with the SOR, she also performs as associate concertmaster of the Missoula Symphony. She loves skiing, trail running, and hiking with her kids. Loy teaches orchestra and elementary music at Target Range School and recently added certification in the Bornoff method to her previous teacher training in Orff, Suzuki, and Musikgarten.
