Kira Lee currently teaches in the Missoula County Public Schools where she directs the orchestra program at Big Sky High School. She has previously taught public school orchestra in South Dakota and Wisconsin and for the String Academy of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. Outside of school Kira currently leads the 2nd violin section for the Missoula Symphony Orchestra and serves as the secretary/treasurer for the Montana chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association. Kira holds a degree in Music Education from Montana State University-Bozeman and a Master of Music with an emphasis in String Pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education through Boston University. Her primary teachers and music education influences include Angella Ahn, Johan Jonsson, Darcy Drexler, Bernard Zinck, and Christian Howes. When not teaching and playing music Kira enjoys reading, baking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. She is thrilled to be playing alongside many of her mentors and teachers in this SOR season.
