Janet Haarvig – Cello

Janet Haarvig has played with many ensembles including the Chicago Lyric Opera and the Caracas Philharmonic and is a cellist with the Glacier Symphony. She received her Master of Music degree from SUNY Stony Brook, where she studied with Bernard Greenhouse. This is Janet’s ninth year teaching orchestra and ukulele at Big Sky High School. She also teaches beginning strings at Hawthorne and Franklin schools. For many summers, Janet played cello with the Festival Amadeus in Whitefish, MT, and taught cello, chamber music, Celtic music, and ukulele at Camp Festival Amadeus.

Janet has written and recorded cello arrangements for the CDs of over 35 songwriters and enjoys arranging and composing when time permits. She plays a beautiful cello made for her by Mark Hollinger in 2008.
